Onda Zr microwave furnace for sintering ceramic materials
Onda Zr brings microwave technology to the dental laboratory. The system transfers energy into the material to achieve a fast, controlled and repeatable sintering process, with a focus on colour stability and the quality of the finished product. Compact and equipped with touchscreen controls, it is designed for the CAD/CAM workflows of dental laboratories and milling centres. Engineering and manufacturing Made in Italy.

Sintering of ceramic materials for laboratories
A system dedicated to sintering ceramic materials used in the dental, chemical, or academic sectors, designed to integrate into the digital laboratory production process.
- Dental laboratories working with zirconia.
- Milling centres and CAD/CAM production workflows.
- University laboratories and development centers.
- Treatments requiring programmable and repeatable cycles.
Microwave energy and cycle control
In conventional heating, heat reaches the surface and is transferred inwards by conduction. Onda Zr uses a hybrid microwave system: electromagnetic energy penetrates the material and is converted into heat. Multistep recipes allow the different stages of the treatment to be managed.
- 01
Loading and recipe selection
The zirconia products are placed in the treatment chamber. The recipe for the sintering cycle is selected via the touchscreen display.
- 02
Controlled sintering
The system performs the treatment according to the programmed parameters, with recipes of up to 20 steps and a maximum temperature of 1,580 °C.
- 03
Cycle completion
Once the treatment and the cooling phase specified by the cycle are complete, the products can be removed and sent for subsequent processing in the laboratory.

Physical tests and technology comparison
Physical parameter tests carried out at CNR-ISSMC in Faenza. In the comparison presented, the microwave-sintered samples show higher density and flexural strength, and a slightly lower Young’s modulus compared to samples treated in a static furnace.
| Parameter | Static furnace | Microwave furnace |
|---|---|---|
| Density (g/cm³) | 6,05 | 6,08 |
| Four-point flexural strength (MPa) | 710 | 740 |
| Young’s modulus (GPa) | 211 | 205 |
The results refer to the comparison carried out in the test and do not constitute a performance guarantee for every material or recipe.
